Every day, people are able to drive through areas of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other countries with civil strife and live to tell about it but I would ask if you would make a decision to attempt same? The fact that any number of Gringos managed to drive safely through a particular zone is simply an indicator that they may have been lucky or their timing was good or simply it wasn't the day for a disruption on that particular stretch of highway. I have often contended that I am a "fatalist" but I refrain from pushing the envelope.
