Road trip from Kentucky to Manzanillo

Can't Post |
My wife and I are planning an early October trip to Manzanillo, Colima. I am trying to make sure that I have all of the logistics worked out, and could use some help.
Every time that someone asks about toll prices, they are referred to a government site which is entirely in Spanish. While I wouldn't be driving through Mexico if I wasn't at least comfortable with the language, I would prefer to read rules, regulations, laws, and such in English, so that I can be sure I'm reading them right. Is there a source for those toll prices in English?
Also, what type of payment will the toll booths accept?
Finally, my vehicle. We will be driving out 2001 Isuzu Rodeo (God help us if it breaks down). It has aftermarket window tinting, not really dark, but dark enough to make it hard to see inside. Will that be a problem? Also, the plates on my vehicle are Fraternal Order of Police plates (with a big star, and the words FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE prominently displayed). Does anyone think that will cause me problems?

What me worry

Mexico does not really cater to english speakers ... so "Rules of the Road" are more likely found in an AAA travel book, sites like this .. or one of the many travel guides about Mexico.
Why worry about exact tolls, just have pesos !! This trip depends on your route. Hyway 200 has no tolls ... going thru Guad will have them all the way. Estimate $100-150. You should be using pesos in gas stations and tool booths. Forget US dollars except at banks (or cambios). Use ATM only at banks if possible. Forget travlers checks except for emergency at banks. Carry 2+ ATM cards (same bank) incase of loss.
Lots of dark windowed cars in Mexico
The police plates will surely start converstions in spanish that you will be able to explain in detail, I'm sure. I doubt that it will be a benefit.

They will be enforced by officials who communicate in Spanish, and in case of conflicts would be adjudicated based on the Spanish language text. Consequently I wouldn't have a good deal of faith that reading somebody's English "translation" is allowing you to "read them right".
