Lots of tweets right now reporting shootouts and several blockades in the city including access to Pharr bridge. Claims that taxistas are refusing to drive to the airport. Checkout cruzfashion and #Reynosafollow.

The City of Reynosa reports that all roads are now cleared. Motorists still advised to proceed with caution.

The cities of Reynosa and the state of Tamaulipas have developed websites specifically to warn residents of dangers, dispel false rumors and report on other crime related news. It is pretty up to date and twitter serves as a fact checker and vice versa:

http://www.reynosa.gob.mx/proteccioncivil/

http://www.tamaulipas.gob.mx/informacion/ Hotspots are color coded.

N.B. For the past hour tweets are starting up claiming high risk situation on the carretera between Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo.

El Milenio de Monterrey has a recap of yesterday's events in Reynosa. There was also an incident at a vehicle checkpoint on the Monterrey-Reynosa autopista near China where two sicarios were shot to death by the Army. The governor of Nuevo Leon had apparently visited the checkpoint only two hours before the incident.
