After having internet problems, I can post about our trip. We crossed at Piedras Negras and went down 57 to Matehuala. We stayed at Las Palmas. It now has some rooms set aside for pets. No problem with our 2 labs. The cost was 800 pesos. It took us about 8 hrs. to get to Matehuala, including getting our papers. The next day we drove about 4 hrs. to SMA. Quinta Loreto takes pets there. After 3 days. we left SMA around 11 am. The arco norte is great. By 3 we were on the other side of Puebla. Campestre Maria Isabel in Tepeaca at km 36 on the old Puebla Tehuacan highway takes pets and the rate is 380. It was still early so we tried Las Cascadas in Orizaba. After talking to the manager she allowed our two labs in the bungalow. The rate was high 1244, but it could be that it was a Sunday. We left Orizaba and drove to Palenque. Stayed at La Aldea, great hotel on the road to the ruins. 800 pesos, big pool, a/c, porches and a good restaurant. The next day we had our longest drive about 9 hrs. to our place in Akumal. Great trip, no problemas. The advice about the arco norte and pet hotels on the forum made it an easy trip.
