Packing a VW Vanagon

Can't Post |
I'm driving to Oaxaca in February and I hope to find work and stay for an extended period of time. I would like advice regarding efficient use of space in a Vanagon- I took out the center seats, and the back seat is a weekender-style fold down bed that I will be using regularly. I plan to pack my stuff in small duffels and milk crates, but I would like to take my (large)dog's travel crate and i can't figure out how it will fit! It has been a vital piece of furniture for 7 years- the dog feels safe there, and in my home it also serves as a table. I have a lightweight wooden trunk that I am already using in the van, it will probably hold about 1/2 of my stuff.
I am following the advice of the People's guide, but one thing I don't know how to do is bolt & lash down heavy items. So I'm fairly organized but somewhat clueless. Help from VW owners is particularly appreciated. Direct emails are welcome.
