Oaxaca to Los Mochis?

Best way to get there: fly or bus?
Also, a friend invited me to spend a week there ... last week in April....we'll take the train part way through the canyon, going south to north,, then stay at a hotel on the edge of the canyon.... Any advice on how to dress that time of year?

To me, it is too long to consider a bus, 24 hours from Los Mochis to Mexico city, so I would fly.

April may be wet, so maybe try to bring wool or synthetics instead of cotton. You will be at varying altitudes, so use layers to adjust to varying temperatures.
