Billy - there is more than one way to go from Chapala to Oaxaca - I think I've done every route (except through Mexico City, through which I do not travel) at least 4 or 5 times -which way do you plan to take so we can offer hotel suggestions?: We want to drive to Oaxaca--can anyone help with nice hotels along the way, etc (we'll be leaving from Chapala)

Here is a route not taken by many.... You must like it HOT! to take this one!From Chapala head down the hill for Tecoman, then south on #200 through some VERY sparsley populated coast to Playa Azul, or Zihuatanejo, on to Acapulco, through Guerrero state to Oaxaca and Pt. Escondido, then up the hill to Oaxaca!There, now you have seen parts of Mexico few Gringos will ever see!Good Luck
