Now In Mazatlan. Questions

I am in Mazatlan and have a few questions. Where is the tourist activity? Simply put, are there any tourists here? What fun things are there to do here in mazatlan?
I have had conflicting sources on this. When does the Mexican League baseball start here. My newspaper says Thursday. Websites are saying next week.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Brian

Now In Mazatlan. Questions - So How Long are You here For?

Message boards aside (Give me a break, I mean SERIOUSLY!) , I don't know if you have noticed but we pretty much have a cruise ship in port every day this month as they re-position for the winter, so there is lots going on for tourists - at least during the day. AT night, no shortage of fun for anyone.....
Get out and smell the ocean.

Well, since you're in the Army, you might prefer the discos and bars and beach places in the Golden Zone. If you aren't there now, take a Sabalo Centro bus north until things start looking Golden.
If you kind of like the idea of being in a foreign country, try the beach at Olas Altas, and the places along that stretch, walking the paseos to either direction, or go inland 4 blocks to the Plazuela Machado, where there is live music every night. (Cute Mexican girls at the Cafe Altazor)
Check out "Stone Island", a long empty stretch of beach with hammock bars.
For more info, ask actual Mazatlan residents at the Radio Free Mazatlan URL below.
For directions to Stone Island (and a great, "Gilligan's Island" lodge, try http://twintowers.mazatlan.com
Have fun, troop

I had a blast at the Venados game. Talked to a taxi driver who knew where the game was and took me there.
I am staying in Olas Altas. I would like to know exactly where this cafe altazor is. It is very nice at Olas Altas but yes like most men, I would like to go to places where there are women.
How would I get to cafe altazor from Hotel Bel Mar? When is a good time to go?

Hotel Belmar???

It is old and indeed funky. It is my first time at Belmar but I am assuming that it hasn{t changed since I was born. A place of great character. Nice people, beautiful ocean view, and a whopping 190 pesos per night.
: Brian;
: Give us a report on the Hotel Belmar....is it still as nice and old and funky as it used to be?

I am here until Tuesday. It is only a week.
Fun place but my limited Spanish is hurting me as far as finding people to hang out with. It is great in that I am practicing my Spanish and learning more but it is tough because sometimes you just want to hang out and have a beer.
