Nogales to Mazatlan

Can't Post | Private Reply
I've posted this elsewhere and received no responses: We are crossing at Nogales next Tuesday and will be pulling a small cargo trailer, which will require driving in the 55-60 mph. Our destination is Sayulita, north of Puerto Vallarta, in southern Nayarit. Could someone suggest a route--assuming we drive about 8 hours per day at the above speed--that would enable us to stay at safe, clean hotels? I'm mainly in need of a route from Nogales to Mazatlan. I can take it from there. Thank you.....jl. ps; I have a Guia Roji mapbook

You deserve an answer. There is only one route-highway 15. There are lots of motels enroute. All are safe-some will have a better space for your trailer than others. Start looking for motels about 5 in the afternoon. It is quite a straightforward trip-don't worry about it you will be fine.

Try:

Navajoa
Mazatlan
Tepic - maybe Pto Vallarta

Navajoa is where most Snowbirds travelling to Mazatlan break their journey. There is a couple of good places to stop there..I will post one (after I look up the info) that friends of mine stay at and really love. Your cargo trailer will be really safe there.

It is called Hotel Hacienda Cazadores.

Here are the directions she supplied.

"It is on the North side of Novajoa, JUST before the little bridge, he will turn to the right, he'll see a small green or blue Hotel sign....turn left onto the service road, the Motel entrance will be on the right, looks like the entrance of a home......it is right past the El Rancho Motel (which he will be facing when he turns off the main highway)....he won't need reservations, and has plenty of room to park the car w/ trailer"

As far as Mazatlan arrival, if you set out early you will arrive well before dark, something advisable. Were you interested in coming into Mazatlan to a motel for overnight and breakfast by the beach, or just needing a recommendation for passing by?
