New Speed Limits in Several States

Texas has signed into law an 85 MPH speed limit on certain highways. That is not a misprint. Kansas to 70 on some highways and Ohio also raised their limits. Well that ought to be a insurance cost raising figure. Maybe jet fuel will soon start appearing at your local BP station!!! sorry I cannot give you a site as these are RGV television reports.

Sorry Rolly,

According to tonight's Channel 5 and 4 (Rio Grande Valley) Television News it has passed in Texas and now only waits for the signs to be made and posted. Aol ( of which have been a subscriber for about 15 years) is no always prompt with their news.) Since I am still in RGV in my trailer (recouping) I listen to the news three times a day and I am pretty sure that all that is needed now is for the state to complete their hwy studies to make the decision which highways will be effected and to make and post the appropriate signage. I am pretty sure that is what I heard Rolly. I could be incorrect . . . .. God knows I have been before.

In this case, Robert, I believe you are incorrect. All of the news sources I have seen are saying the same thing:

Quote

The speed limit on some highways in Texas may be raised to 85 mph, the highest in the nation, under legislation the Texas House approved Wednesday.

The measure passed on a voice vote was part of a larger transportation bill. It would authorize the Texas Department of Transportation to raise the speed limit on designated lanes or entire stretches of roads after doing engineering and traffic studies, The Dallas Morning News reported Thursday.

The Senate is considering a similar bill.

Ohio raised the Speed Limit to 70 on the Ohio Turnpike (Route 80)only. It has been 70 on the interstates for many years.

OOPS. That Speed Limit should read 65 not 70 on Ohio interstates.
