Traveling South on Mexico from Nogales to Mazatlan then to Tepec .
Does anyone have an up date on the present highway condition and also any other problems along the way that we should be aware of?

Pancho:

I have some friends from Canada that drove that route last week. They didn't mention any real issues with the highway but did say that with all of the checkpoints, there seemed to be a "tension in the air". Their only other comment was that they stayed at Los Arcos in Mazatlan and there was a new "boom boom room" across the street that provided additional noise until 4am. They also added that they felt additional tension between Mazatlan and Tepic.

We have traveled several times this summer between Guadalajara and Mazatlán and have found the roads to be exceptionally good. We remember when the road between Tepic and Mazatlán was practically impassable! We noted no additional tension between Tepic and Mazatlán

There is overpass construction, which involves a bumpy little detour and traffic congestion as you pass through Mazatlan (south area).

Thanks everyone for your reply ,we had a great trip down,to add to the conditions above, there is a long stretch of highway under construction directly North of Navojoa and there were quite a few large chuck holes starting 60 miles South of Culiacan all on toll roads.
This is our 27 trip over this route and its always nice to know what may lie ahead.
