Mexico City to Acapulco

Can't Post |
Hello I am staying in Acapulco in Oct. but was planning to fly into Mexico City staying there for a day then driving to Acapulco. My question is how long is the drive to Acapulco. And is it possible to rent a car in Mexico city and leave it in Acapulco? If so approximately how much would it be?
Thanks all for your help.
Carlos

You will have to rent a car from a major rental firm like Hertz or Alamo that have rental offices in Acapulco. The drive is about 31/2 to 4 hours, depending on how long it takes you to get out of the DF, if you take the toll road 95D. The old road is much much slower 8 to 10 hours. The toll road costs about $50 US, but is well worth it. There is a drop off fee for leaving a car in Acapulco, but it varies with the rental agency.
Best of luck.
Jason

It is cheap, comfortable and fast! Plus they show movies!
A car rental is a BIG RIP, Tolls, $2.25 Gal gas, return fees, etc.
The Airplane is not that much $$ and is really quick, although the airport is a fair distance to downtown.

Actually a plane and collectivo cab to town is the fastest.
I think the 1st class bus ia approx $35.00 and it is under six hours, after all it's downhill tollroad almost all the way.
You need to get to the Tasqueno Bus station in Mexico City, the last cab ride I took was a 16$ rip. The subway goes there too, but luggage may not be allowed on it.
If $$ is not too tight I'd fly it. It's about a half hour or so.
Pernel

thanks for the info. SO its $16 from the airport to the bus terminal, then $35.00 for each person (2 of us) for a 6 hour ride to Acapulco. Then I'll have to factor acapulco back to Mexico City 6 days later. I guess theres no express bus that would make the ride faster without all the stops. But $35.00 isn't so bad considering all the tolls by car would be about $50.00.

So it looks like a bus ride.... :-)
Pernel
