Albuquerque->Mexico by Bus

I live just south of Albuquerque on the road to Juarez, and have seen all the following buslines pass by over the last month.
Americanos USA 505-842-0316 1730 Central Av. SW
El-Paso LA Limousine Exp. 505-247-8036 1611 Central Avenue NW
Golden States 505-224-2833 901 Sunset Road SW
Greyhound 505-243-4435 (national 800-231-2222) 300 Second St. SW (there is a user-hostile Web site, www.greyhound.com - good luck)
Local telephone numbers and station addresses are taken from last year's phone directory for Abq.
Except for Greyhound, these have a very low Web profile - you will have to call for info. You will win their hearts if you call in Spanish. These buslines primarily serve local hispanics returning to Mexico for a visit, and have been known to be openly hostile and non-cooperative to English speaking Anglos. On occasion I have had to place a call to the Interstate Commerce Commission which reminds the buslines of their licensing requirements - they are MUCH more cooperative then for a few days!
My personal choice among them is the El Paso- Los Angeles Limousine Express, a busline despite the highclass title. Their departures were at 11 AM, 3:15 PM, 5:30 PM; they connect at their own terminal in El Paso (720 Oregon, at the base of the Stanton Street "Good Neighbor" bridge) with buses continuing directly on to Chihuahua. You will NOT pass through the Juarez zoo of a bus terminal - a good thing in my opinion. Be sure to have your tourist visa in hand - the bus will not stop for you to get it. Your schedule may dictate that you use a different busline; some continue across the border now without a change of bus, a decided convenience. Be sure to ask when you re-confirm ALL information for the time of your trip.
Hope this gives you a jump-start.
Elliott Moore
