Mazatlan hotel near cuota going north

We're going to be driving from Ajijic north through Nogales mid-March and would like to stay one night in Maz not too far from the cuota. Like something clean, safe and with food nearby. Up to $100. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

There are several motels along Hwy 15, in Maz. Most appear to be no-tels, but there's one at the Pemex station on the right-hand side of the highway, immediately after the Y when you are coming into Maz from the south, that appears to be an overnight stop to long-haul truckers. The only nearby food would be snacks in the Pemex, but I think that'd be pretty much the case with any of the other motels along that stretch, too. Let me know if you'd like more information. Lee

We stay at that hotel coming down in January. From the south it would be on your right as you come into Mazatlan. It is behind a large Pemex Station with many trucks parked in front. Use to be a restaurant attached but it was closed. We grabbed sandwiches at the Pemex. Room was fine ($36).

Stay on the bottom floor so plants shield the truck noise...however no trouble sleeping. Don't forget to feed the two kittens that hang around looking for food.

ditto for the hotel by the Pemex. Clean and around 420 pesos last time we stayed there. We stayed on ground level, too.
