We are leaving this Friday for the drive from New Jersey to Chiapas, planning to cross again in Matamoros (Brownsville). Is the border open 24 hours? If yes, has anyone done this in the early hours of the morning? (say 3 - 6 am?) Are you more or less likely to be scrutinized in the night as during the day? Also, are all the services open in the night (ie, to get the car permit, tourist permit, bank, etc--the last time we crossed (at Xmas) we still had our FM3's. This time we need to get tourist visas.)
