Would anyone have any recommendations for a nice, but not expensive hotel in Mexico City? I am thinking of the Alameda or surrounding area.

About four blocks south of the Alameda and a few doors to the east is the Hotel El Salvador, at Avenida El Salvador #16, (5) 521-1247. I called them the other day and a single is now 260 pesos. If you like to watch a lively street scene (in a computer and electronics district), ask for a room in the front with a balcony; if you prefer quiet, ask for a room in the back.
