Laredo (Colombia) Speed Trap

Can't Post | Private Reply
Have been stopped twice when traveling from the Colombia crossing to Mex 85. Cops sit in the bushes waiting for
foreign plated vehicles headed to Monterey.
Having being stung the year before, I carefully kept below the posted speed limit. "Cop-in-the-truck" stops me, and
informs me that I was speeding. He actually had a radar gun ! The gun display (of course) showed me 10km over
the limit. I'm guessing that he got the gun to read that speed hours before I got there, then used it to harvest his
crop of victims that day. He agreed to cut the fine, and 'pay it for me'....after a short negotiation.
From now on, we will stick to crossing right in Laredo, rather than Colombia.

Sounds to me that maybe one needs one of those radar detector/radar jammer combos. The guy who owns the auto garage that does my work has an $1100 unit mounted under his dash in his Vette. He drives the 510 or so miles from Albuquerque to Chihuahua, MX in 6 hours. He has confused many a radar gun in MX since they will read 90kmph no matter how fast he is going.
Not sure of the brand but he sure swears by it!
