La Paz to Mazatlan ferry

We are considering making this trip in November, with our SUV and 2 cats.
What are the restrictions on board regarding whereabouts our cats are permitted to go - can they go to the cabins as an example?
We would like to hear from anyone who has made this trip in the recent past.
Thanks,
Mexberry.

I believe all pets must stay in vehicle and be provided with all the food and water needed for the 18 hour trip and you are not allowed to go to your vehicle when underway.......google " bajaferrys"

After 18 hours locked alone in a car tossing on the waves,
you will surely have a freaked out pet and a very stinky car.
What a crazy rule.

I think the important thing, from the view of the ferry operator, is that the stink is in *your* car not their boat.

Actually it is a 12 hour crossing. It seems there are 2 options for pets

• The Chihuahua Star ferry includes pet areas with 16 available cages. The cost for this service is $200.00 Mexican Pesos. You must request this service in the moment of registering your ticket. (Restricted capacity of 3 cages)

or

• The pets traveling inside your car are your responsibility.

Even so it is not an ideal situation for any pet
