Just drove the most beautiful road. Morelia to Ixtapa 3.5 Hours!

Can't Post |
And stayed at wonderful beach resort near Ixtapa. Troncones Beach is so secluded, quiet, pristine, not a soul on the beach as far as you can see.
If you would like more information on how to get there, where to stay contact me and I'll be glad to send my you pictures, etc

But Tell Us About The Highway

Can't Post |
I appreciate your interest in telling us about Casas Gregorios, but can you provide a description of the drive between Morelia and Lazaro Cardenas on the cuota?
I drove the Morelia to Nueva Italia portion in September 2001. I'm considering a drive from Troncones up to Morelia in October. Please provide some information about (at least) the Nueva Italia to Lazaro Cardenas portion.
Thanks

Hi Ernie Thanks for asking!

Well the beauty of it is you don't go to Lazaro Cardenas at all thereby saving several hours. The short cut involves taking the new road - where it starts at highway 200 at Valentin just past La Union where the 1st toll booth is. Good signage "Morelia Cuota". This good road lasts for about 35 minutes. Then you are diverted to the Infiernillo road where it becomes a class "D" road two lanes, rather narrow, surface is a little beat up but it's very scenic. You drive along the west side of the dam until you get to Las Cañas about an hour later there the toll road begins again. There are some fellows on strike asking for donations there, they'll accept anything you care to give them 15-50 pesos. From Las Cañas to Nuevo Italia, Uruapan and Morelia is all toll road and an easy 2 hour drive.
Good luck, see you in Troncones.
