Well first thing first. How much was the "couta" from Nogalez, MX to Puerto Vallarta. 540.00 pesos or $57.00 U.S.D.. Worth it? You bet!
On July 3, 2002, drove from Pasadena, CA, at 4:00 p.m., to Mazatlan, Sinaloa, arrived there at 4:40 p.m. local time on July 4, 2002. I drove non-stop, except for gas, it took me about 24 hours. I did all of the driving. I think someone owes me a beer around here. Left on July 5, 2002, at 6:00 a.m. from Mazatlan and arrived in Puerto Vallarta at around 3:30 p.m. local time (lots of traffic!).
This is part one, will keep posting later.

Hola PV,
I'll buy you a beer next time I'm in Pasadena. I am surprised you made it that quickly. I am also so glad I wasn't with you! I'm too old for marathon drives. What time did you cross the border? Was it open when you arrived?
Rolly

I cross the border at Nogalez, AZ at 1:30 a.m. and got the red light and the "aduana" decided to check every single piece of luggage I had. It took him about 1/2 hour.
The border was open at the "El Centro" into Downtown Nogales MX. I'll tell you Rolly it was a marathon drive. I was doing an average of 80 to 85 mph. Could have made it to PV, if the traffic in the U.S. side was lighter, but it was a pain. While in MX it was a breeze.
: Hola PV,
: I'll buy you a beer next time I'm in Pasadena.
