well, I am down to 48 hours before I leave. So I am going to try and have everything together by late tomorrow then I am sleeping all day Friday because we start our trip at 10:30 p.m. it's going to take me about 27 hours to get to Laredo. I am taking blankets and pillows so while one drives the other sleeps.
Now to my questions:
1. When I cross at Laredo were is the best place to turn my US$ into pesos? Would it be better to exchange cash or use atm card to get pesos?
2. this is the most important question to me right now and I really hope someone has had experiance with it. I have astma and I am wondering if the climatement in mexico will effect it in a bad way.
3. I am taking my Laptop with me and from what I have read I should have no problems, right?
4. what is the speed limit on the toll roads?

Thanks for all your help!!
Janet

1. There are many casas de cambio on both sides of the river in Los Dos Laredos. One which I'm rather fond of on the Laredo side, just a few blocks from the bridge, open 24-hours a day, has a drive-through window. I've forgotten where you're going, but I'd suggest converting about $300 USD into pesos, just to make sure you've got enough money for tolls, gas and other necessities.
2. Whether your asthma will be affected sort of really kinda like depends upon where you're headed.
3. You ought not experience any more problems with your laptop south of the Rio Bravo than you did north of it. Yes, taking it through customs is as easy as takihg your purse.
4. what is the speed limit on the toll roads?
110-120. Km/hour, that is.

"Asthma"

: I have astma and I am wondering if the climatement in mexico will effect it in a bad way.
Without additional descriptors or explanation "asthma" is simply a catch-all term for any kind of reccuring rapid-onset respiratory ailment typically characterized by labored breathing, chest constriction, and/or coughing. As an asthma sufferer you probably have some ideas as to what conditions or stressors trigger your attacks. If and only if you're willing to share these somebody frequenting this forum might be able to speculate as to whether or not you're likely to encounter the condition or stressor in Mexico.
In the meantime, regardless as to the severity and frequency of your asthma attacks, I'd think it would be highly advisable to (a) bring a supply of any medications you need to treat your asthma, and (b) copies of your prescriptions in case you need to obtain replacements or additional supplies.

I have athsma although a very mild case. When I have gone to Mexico, sometimes, when I have gotten behind one of the diesel busses, or in Mexico City, I sometimes have an attack, but I use my inhaler and everything calms down. I don't really think it is any worse than here in the US, depends on what it is that makes it worse and how bad you have it. Just make sure you have enough medicine with you and know where it is. Also, there is something that I found in Mexico that helped my asthma a lot, it is natural. It is called "Broncolin". You can find it in a health food store. I found it in Morelia and they even sell it up here at the Mexican stores. You shouldn't have anymore problems there than here. After all, people in Mexico have athsma too.
