INTERJET - a crazy airline website!

Can't Post | Private Reply
Has anyone bought tickets off their website, and if so, did you have any trouble with it? I lost 3 hours of my life last night trying to execute the transaction, and it kept rejecting my (U.S.-based) credit card.

Finally ended up calling them and doing it over the phone (for an extra $50 MXP). But even now, when I enter the confirmation code, it won't give me my itinerary, etc.

(Props to Chinagringo for his Volaris thread, which prompted me to check Interjet for my flight between GDL and MEX. Saved me about $1400 MXP. That is, if I actually succeeded in purchasing tickets.)

I have tried in the past to book flights with this airline on line without success. I had to call and the price of course was higher, but not as high as going to the airline booth at the airport.

A couple of years ago we flew Interjet out of Toluca, flight to Tuxtla Gutiérrez. We booked the tickets over the Internet from Morelia, no problem. Hmmm.

"Hmmm" is right.

Well, part of the mystery is solved. It turns out the credit card I'd been trying to use had been canceled due to a "security breach" according to my card issuer (B of A). I had no idea, and I had effectively used it as recently as June 16. Phone calls with BofA today revealed that the card wasn't cut off due to any sketchy transaction or card behavior on my part. BofA said that they'd received a "warning" from VISA about a large number of cards - sounds like a computery hack thing - so they'd cancelled thousands. No need for me to feel special. I actually checked my local PO Box today and sitting in there was my shiny new replacement card. So I'll give them an A+ for being able to crank out plastic and put it in stamped envelope.

Regarding not being able to access my tickets on the Interjet website today....my best guess is it's just a delay. I ended up using a debit card - since I knew it would work last night after a frustrating few hours - and the transaction just hasn't been posted yet (checked my on-line statement). Buried on the Interjet website, I think I read something to the effect that since Interjet uses a variety of non-instant payment methods, what they first do is give out a "confirmation code"....then wait to receive payment. Once they've receive actual payment, then it'll probably all show up in "the system".

Maybe.

I confirmed with BofA that the debit went through fine, so we'll see.

I think Mexico is trying to teach me patience again.

Well it's all sorted out. The debit transaction was processed and my itinerary is accessible on the Interjet website.

I still have a feeling their website may be a bit wonky. At some point during a conversation with BofA I asked if, back when I was trying to use the cancelled card, they had rejected the transaction. They said no, they'd never received a request for authorization from Interjet. Whatever. Something in the system wasn't working, either me entering data incorrectly (several times), the Interjet website, or something on the BofA end. Todo es posible.

Regardless, in the future if I have any trouble using the Interjet website again, I'll just pick up the phone and call. For 50 pesos more it's not worth the aggravation.

I'm ticketed!
