How do I get tickets?

Can't Post |
Four of us are flying into guadajara on 10/25. We are then going to Puerto Vallarata. Cost And Fear of driving in Mexico prompts us to look for bus transportation to get us there and back. Found that Etn buses are said to be a good choice. How do we get tickets? The web site is not working. If we call will someone be able to speak English. Suggestions are very welcome.....

Go to the bus station...

directly from the airport. ETN is best, Primera Plus is very good also. There are several other lines that go to PV, but they are slow. The busses run all day and into the night. No advance purchase is really possible, but they usually don't sell out except on holidays (and sometimes on Sundays--but only leaving PV). Hold out for ETN if you can--it's worth the wait for the additional speed and confort. The trip on ETN takes about 4.5 hours--on others, from 5.5 to 7 hours! Don't worry--Mexican busses are easy and reliable. Try to relax!

Further information: when you get into the GDL airport, tell the man at the taxi booth that you want to go to the NEW bus station and that you want to go to módulo ETN. That's where the ETN buses to Vallarta arrive and depart. The taxi ride to 'la central nueva' from the airport is about half an hour.
Pronunciation guide: MOH-doo-low
lah sen-TRAHL NWAY-vah
ETN= Eh-Teh-Ehneh
Have a great time in Vallarta.

Thanks for the info. One more Question: when I buy the tickets will they take credit cards or must it be cash???

I was just at the Mazatlan bus station a few minutes ago and asked at the Estrella Blanca counter (one of the premier buslines out of here) and they told me "no credit cards". I would guess, that would be the same for the rest of the buslines in Maz. They usually copy each other. There seem to be no hard and fast rules/policies in Mexico but I'd be prepared to pay in cash (pesos).

Your best bet is cash; I believe that ETN does actually take credit cards but to be on the safe side...money always works. You'll need pesos for the taxi, as well, and for tipping baggage handlers if you need one at the GDL airport.
