Hotels between Linares and C. Victoria?

Can't Post | Private Reply
I plan to leave Friday, Oct 3, from San Antonio (on my Toronto to Mexico trip) and go south on #85 to Linares and on to C. Victoria. It looks to me like it'll be well over 400 miles to C. Victoria. With the border crossing I doubt I will make it to Victoria in a day. So I'm wondering about hotels/motels in the LInares to Victoria stretch on #85. I'm on motorcycle and so need secure parking near the room, preferably in front of the room or inside a courtyard. And reasonably priced - $400 to $500 pesos (or less). I'd appreciate any tips.
Cheers,
John

Hello,

I haven't been on the Linares to Cd. Victoria stretch for years but Linares used to have three downtown hotels of which one was more than adequate, and it had another motel along the highway. I should think by this time there should be more hotels since Linares is the site of a rather large Seventh Day Adventist Intensive Spanish Language Institute specializing in teaching Doctors, Nurses and other social workers. The Cd. Victoria-Linares stretch was an easy drive so I don't remember other cities or hotels.

Hello,

Highway 85 goes right through the center of Monterrey to continue on to Linares and Cd. Victoria. If I were on a motorcycle I would not want to go that way. Nor do I know if the periferico has ever been extended on to make the connection to highway 85. (My Guia Roji is 2005). However to miss the center of Monterrey you could swing East on the Periferico and go to Cadereyta to pick up a 35KM unnumbered highway south to Montermorelos-Linares-Cd. Victoria. If you look at your Guia Roji you will see that it is not really out of your way. The signage at Cadereyta is not the best so in that small town you might have to ask a transito for directions to the Linares autopista.
