We are in Tepa, close to Guadalajara.
We had several friends show up at different times and say NL is very bad place to be. People are desperate for food and supplies. Be wise and be very careful.

One of our friends had a bad experience crossing at Roma, TX into Mexico. Be very careful there also. DO NOT GET LOST! Stay on the Highway!! And my advice is to NOT cross there with your children.

Hubby called the 074 for the Caminos and Puentes Federales and 088 which is for Libre (non-toll roads) and they are telling us that ALL the roads are open for everyone. Even 57 which I cannot verify anywhere else but feel free to call and let me know.

We need to cross through PN because they have our cash deposit on our car permit and we are praying 57 opens soon heading towards Saltillo - Piedras Negras.

If you have any info please let me know.

As of a couple of hours ago, Reynosa-Matamoros was still closed.
However, I believe virtually every other highway is now open, even if not necessarily with all lanes in operation.

Morning Altahabana,

I was wondering when this would start. desperate times and desperate people = ? Not unlike many similar scenarios in many different lands. Preservation? Gas and exchange $ before you cross and don't stop for any reason, until you need gas again.

The observations of poster's friends are bs. There are not desperate residents running around the city. All of the flood issues are overshadowed by what is happening as I write it. There were gunbattles all over the city all afternoon. A major confrontation between the Zetas and the military shut down major parts of the city.

Hello Altahabana,

So you think then it is OK to cross at NL and safe to travel into Mexico and to Queretaro from that direction. The floods have delayed me for too long now and I must go directly to Queretaro.

Alta, that is simply untrue. Four different families told us of the problems they had in NL while crossing. BS? No. These are good people with nothing to gain by being dishonest.

I respect your opinion and I appreciate the updates you have posted.

Tony,

Have you or anyone else on this post seen or heard anything about the Rio Bravo rising again, to the point of reflooding taking place in Reynosa? I just got off the phone with my wife again and she tells me they were watching the television news and that was on the news. Anyone else hear of that ?

Thanks,
Robt65

Yes, at least 600 homes in Reynosa were evacuated as the second surge of water arrived earlier today (Friday).

Is this having any effect on the highways that you are aware of Tony?

Not that I've heard, but that doesn't mean much! There are no reports to my knowledge of any of the major highways near Reynosa being closed at present, excluding the Reynosa-Matamoros highway which was deliberately broken by road crews to allow flood water to ease its way back to the river, and which is not expected to be repaired for several days at least.
