9 July: Highway 57 is still blocked by bridge damage at Sabinas south of Piedras Negras/Eagle Pass. Some reports say the bridge was destroyed. There don't seem to be any estimates on when the highway will reopen. The railroad bridge is still OK, so flood relief aid is moving by train in the area.
The mayor of Piedras Negras was killed today in a plane crash while surveying the flood damage.
