Guanajuato, Mexico, where Old World still lingers

The San Francisco Chronicle has an amusing travel article on their website by Spud Hilton, Chronicle Travel Editor, briefly relating his adventures on a visit to Guanajuato. The usual complaints about the hills and the confusing street layout, plus a short historical vignette about the city's place in the Revolution and, of course, a visit to the mummies:

Guanajuato, Mexico, where Old World still lingers

Fun quote (for me):

"Wait. This guy died during my lifetime," I said aloud to no one.

Ricardo the tour guide looked at me blankly, waiting for a question.

"I have shirts older than this 'mummy,' " I said, indignant.

FWIW,
