Try from Miami via containership to Veracruz or Merida. Driving from Brownsville to Cancun...follow gulf coastal road down to Tampico to Veracruz to Campeche (do not drive Veracruz to Campeche at night) to Merida and across Yucatan. Mostly all toll roads ad you avoid the big DF. Some folks prefer to go from Veracruz to Oaxaca up to Chetmal and then north to Can Cun but i understand this is a bad hwy. Enjoy!
: I need to get to Brownsville, TX to pick up my car that I'm hvaign shipped from Miami and then from there I'm plannin on driving my Cra back to cancun. If you can wait till November you can drive your car to Tampa and put it on the ferry that will be running from Tampa to Cancun. If you can't wait that long I would suggest you get in contact with Sanborn's insurance company. Since you'll be driving more than 75 miles from the boarder you'll need Mexican insurance. Sanborn's will send you very detailed directions on how to get to your destination. Sanborn's number is: 1-800-284-9783. Once you get past Villahermosa there are a varity of ways to get to Cancun. The most senic, but the slowest is to continue on route 180 thru Del Carmen. The fastest is to take 186 out of Villahermosa to route 307 near Chetumal; then take route 307 to Cancun. Route 307 is currently being widened from Chetumal north thru Bacalar to a large town called Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The speed limit on ths new section of road is 110 km/h. The best thing is that there are no tolls on this road... yet. After Felipe Carrillo the road narrows till you get to Tulum, and from Tulum to Cancun route 307 widens out again and the speed limit again is 110 km/h.
Hope this helps,
Anthony
: I need to get to Brownsville, TX to pick up my car that I'm hvaign shipped from Miami and then from there I'm plannin on driving my Cra back to cancun.
