Geo Prizms (Toyota Corollas)

Can't Post |
Does anyone know if it would be a problem to find parts for (and mechanics to repair) Geo Prizms in Mexico (particularly the Guadalajara area)? The Prizm, as some of you may know, is an almost-identical twin to the popular Toyota Corolla - but built by Chevrolet. Are there any Toyota dealers (or mechanics) as yet in Mexico? Thanks.

Marge,
There are 4 Toyota dealers in Mexico City, 1 in Guadalajara and 1 in Monterrey. Right now they sell only the Camry and Corolla.
Geo is not sold in Mexico. However, the former GEO Tracker is sold under the Chevrolet name here.
I know many people with Toyota's (brought from the U.S.), and we have had no problem with using independent mechanics, as many old Toyota pickups exist in Mexico from the nationalization program.
: Does anyone know if it would be a problem to find parts for (and mechanics to repair) Geo Prizms in Mexico (particularly the Guadalajara area)? I had a lot of problems getting my Toyota fixed in Monterrey

When my clutch went out, the mechanic, who specialized in fixing transmissions, could not find any parts. He had the clutch resurfaced, but not very long afterwards the transmission stopped working in the hill country of Texas. I had to pay over $800 to the shop the car broke down in front of to get it fixed. They claimed it was because of the shoddy work that was done to it in Mexico (because the pins on the clutch plate were cut off).
Therefore, after living here in Mexico for over eight years, I do not advise anyone to bring a Toyota here, because parts are scarce. A Nissan would be much better.
: Does anyone know if it would be a problem to find parts for (and mechanics to repair) Geo Prizms in Mexico (particularly the Guadalajara area)? And since you knew that they had to improvise, you should have been aware that it might break again.
Pernel
