FM3 paranoia

A friend asked the question that follows. In flying into Mexico from NOB, in possession is an FM3 that was not stamped upon exiting Mexico the last time he left Mexico. It’s time for him to renew his 5 year expiring FM3 and I heard that if he fly’s into Guad on a Tourist Visa, it will show up at the immigration office computer that he just came into Mexico on a Tourist Visa, rather than using his now expiring FM3 which was not stamped upon leaving the last time. What is your take on this and is there really a problem?

Don’t know, can’t say if this is true or not but has the sophistication of knowing he came in on a Tourist Visa and left with a new FM3 this time, is it likely it be noted someway or another or is it just over reaction/paranoia type stuff setting in……………………? In other words, he came in on Tourist Visa, shouldn't he just leave and have that same Visa stamped upon exiting? Recent experiences appreciated…..

Oscar 2:
If you read the other discussion on FMT's - it might be somewhat helpful. My "better half" has been going in and out for years on FMT's with an expired FM3. They never picked up on that but it could be because she renewed her Passport about the time the FM3 expired. We do guess that their system has been upgraded and they are doing a better job of tracking!

So where does the paranoia come in? That is not explained in your post.

Goyo, the post you responded to is nearly a year old. During the time since Oscar2 posted, the immigration regulations for entering Mexico have changed. It's probably best, if you still have questions, to post those specific questions in a different thread.

not sure.... when i have driven out of mexico, i return the car permit sticker and save the return receipt..... then i drive to the other side as if i was just arriving into mexico and go to the IMN official that gives the FMT tourist visa.... i open the page to exit page and they stamp it...... a little work to be in order.

Mexliving, the FM-T no longer exists. Immigration regulations and practices changed a month ago. Here's the latest:

The link does not make it clear. Has the procedures and requirements changed sufficiently so that when you cross the border, or do the equivalent at the airports, and hand the officials all your paperwork they will stamp or otherwise annotate all the appropriate paperwork so that the INM office will not need to scold you and otherwise penalize you for not fulfilling your responsibility for getting all that done properly?

Do these changes to practices and procedures now make it easy, practical, and somewhat intuitive to properly handle your documents legally to everyone's satisfaction?
