Espinazo del Diablo becoming superhighway

There is an article in USA Today about the project of replacing the infamous Espinazo del Diablo road over the Sierra Madre, from Mazatlan to Durango. The new road will reportedly cut travel times from 8 hours to 2.5 hours.

I have not been on that road, but I have always heard stories about how twisty and scary it is. And of course the spectacular views.
