Easter Weekend Travel - Update

Can't Post |
I was concerned with being on the road Easter weekend after hearing warnings from several members so here is my trip report. I Left PV Saturday morning at 7:30 and reached Compostela around 10, taking the cuota to Guadlajara toll road, a 30 minute drive. I arrived at Guadalajara around 12:30, after circling south of GDL I turned north on 80 and drove through Lagos de Moreno and Ojuelos de Jalisco and arrived at a hotel in San Luis Potosi around 6 PM. The drive was about 10 hours (435 miles) which includes a number of short breaks.

I left SLP Sunday morning at 8:30 and continued north on 57 passing Matehuala, Saltillo, and Monterrey. I stopped for the night north of Monterrey at the El Rancho Inn (Km 99). I could have easily reached the Colombia crossing Sunday but had reservations Monday east of San Antonio and didn’t need to get there to early. The second day was about 7 hours and 370 miles.

I crossed at Colombia this morning(Monday) after 1 ½ hour drive. They were three cars in front of me at the border. The real surprise was the traffic. There was very little to deal with. Of course a little slow going towards Tepic but only because of several older buses that had to be passed. I was also surprise with the ease of getting around Guadalajara with only light traffic. The only real traffic was about an hour south of Monterrey Sunday afternoon but that disappeared once I hit the cuota around the city as rest of the cars continued into the city. So much for travel concerns. It was an easy two plus day drive on Easter weekend.
