ETN bus from Mexico city to Morelia

We have friends from Europe who will be taking an ETN bus from Mexico City (poniente station) to Morelia on a saturday in July. They have asked us if they need to purchase tickets in advance. ETN has buses running every 30 minutes all day on saturdays, so I would think they don't all fill up ahead of time, and that our friends would be safe in buying tickets that day, which would give them the most flexibility.

Does anyone have experience with these buses to know if they sell out? I will also ask the local ETN person here in Morelia, but who knows if they will know.

I took an ETN bus from Mexico City to Morelia last fall and did buy my ticket ahead of time, mostly to make sure I'd be able to get the INAPAM discount. I traveled in the middle of the week at a non-holiday time, and the coach was only half-full. Probably there's no need for your friends to purchase their tickets ahead of time unless they want to be sure of getting seats together.

It shouldn't be any problem to just walk up to the ETN ticket counter and buy two tickets on the next available bus to Morelia. As Linda said, there will be another one in 30 minutes.

Alternatively, the AutoVías bus line, whose ticket counter is next door to that of ETN at Poniente, has fairly frequent departures to Morelia. The class is slightly less deluxe, but more than comfortable and slightly cheaper.
