Driving from San Antonio to Guadalajara

I'm considering driving from San Antonio, Tx. to the Guadalajara area but have never driven in Mexico. Is it a big deal to take a privately owned american vehicle across the border and then use it to travel within Mexico? Are any special papers needed?, such as an international drivers license? Would it be more advisable to fly? <p>Thanks

Try doing a search of the forums (e.g. driving in Mexico) and you should find a ton of discussion on the same and similar topic. There's even a topic on the front page about what you're asking.

Try the Sanborn's Travelog Series books available at any bookstore.
They map the road out for you, side trips, camping, places to stay.
Or try Rolling homes Press - The Guide to Camping in Mexico-just updated in Sept.
This is by a couple named Church.
The Sanborn's give you a good feel or tap into Mexico Mike Nelson
on the interent for infor.
I travel quaint places in Mexico and could give you more info if requested.<p>
