Driving down to the Oaxacan Coast

Good Afternoon,

I am leaving this January and heading down to Oaxacan pacific coast. I was wondering what routes are the best, what routes have people taken, does anyone have any advice? I am looking at crossing at Matamoros.

Any information would be helpful!

I was just at the Veteran Bridge today canceling a TIP. While waiting my turn, I heard some automatic gunfire very close by. You can take that for what it is worth.

Take it easy between Pinotepa Nacional and Puerto Escondido. The road there is never in good shape. Sometimes a one-lane washout round a blind curve.
