Do not take the night bus from Acapulco to Puerto Escondido.
There have been armed robberies of the bus. It is not covered on the news but I have spoken to two people that were robed in the last two weeks.
Las week when the bus driver would not stop the robbers opened fire on the bus and a passenger was shot.
Take the day bus.

The injured person was shot in the chest. She is in a Mexico City hospital. She will be OK. She is a very well known Puerto Escondido personality. It will be her choice to reveal her identity.
If yoy know Puerto Escondido you know that there is No news reports of anything.
I don't care if you believe this. Take the night bus.

When driving north on this highway, we were told by restaurant owners from Puerto Escondido not to travel at night, since we would probably be robbed 5 minutes out of town. This was after a PEMEX attendent told us it was totally safe. The next day we encountered a federal police truck that ran out of gas. I offered a jerry can full free. The commandante made each of his six men dig in to their pockets to repay us for the gas, despite my offer. While filling up, I noticed two large holes through the front windshield. I was told that a policeman was shot to death on the highway a few months before.ABout twenty km south of Acapulco, a window in our vehicle was shot out by a small bore gun as we passed a market place around 9PM.Travel only in the day.

Unless someone who was on that bus comes forward there should be some skepticism. Stories like this often are not true. I do know that rip-offs
have happened before but I have not heard of people being shot. More evidence is needed for me to believe that this happened the way you guys are reporting it
