and the verdict is in. Drum roll please....

But first, allow me to thank everyone for all the awesome advice I received prior to our trip. Secondly, I want to give a big thanks to all the great Mexican people I met along the way. Wow! What a great trip! So many beautiful sights and unique cultural experiences. If there is still drug related crime, or crime in general, in Mexico I didn't see any of it. Instead, we traveled on clean, well maintain roads, met tons of super sweet, very helpful people along the way, and ate great food wherever we stopped. I hope someday soon more people will start traveling to Mexico, but until they do, I guess we get the country (almost) to ourselves :)

We ended up taking the VW Rabbit (Golf) and for 99% of the time, it was perfect for the road conditions. However, the 1% of the time we needed a truck (climbing the slippery slopes up Gringo Hill in Sayulita or the narrow jeep trail on the way to the lake near Mascota) we REALLY needed a truck. Also, we probably would have brought back a lot more stuff if we had more room the truck would've provided (not sure if this is a good thing).

We didn't bring gear to camp but I was surpised to see many tents on the beach in San Pancho. Oh and, by the way - no reason to ever go back to Sayulita. Too crowded and crazy. My Mexican wife asked, "these people don't really think this is Mexico do they?"

Will we bring the truck next time? Only if we travel the Baja, which I'm pretty sure will be our next big Mexican road trip.

Thanks again!

Greg
