Crossing from Coatzacoalcos-Salina Cruz

I will be sailing down to Mexico (east coast) and I am looking for a way
to cross over to the west coast either by river/train or truck. I heard that between Coatzacoalcos and Salina Cruz the land is pretty flat and it might be quite possible to transport a boat over land. Any clues or suggestions. I don't want to go down to Panama. Thanks, Ron

We came from the W. coast via the canal. Planning to go back, we
were talking to a boating friend who told us that
boats were being transported across the Tehuantepec, with details such
as, "The mast is left standing"!
Now I shall e-mail our friends and ask him to keep us posted
if they can obtain more solid information. Please let us
know if you learn anything further.
William Oldfield, "Ode to Joy"

5/19 I talked to a Mexican friend who said that one can arrange
a caminero to take your boat over through the marina at Veracruz. He
said that when one of his friends took his boat over it cost about $600
and that they took his mast down first.
