I will be driving into Mexico and do not have a title for my car. I just purchased it in Texas but had it registered in Massachusetts and it will be about a month before I receive the title. I read on the Sanborn Insurance website that you must have either the title or a registration receipt to enter Mexico.
Does anyone know what this receipt is? Is it just the certificate of registration? The people at the Mass. RMV told me that they don't know what a registration receipt is and that they don't give anything but this certificate.
Does anyone know if the registration is all I need to cross?
I do also have a photocopy of the Texas title that shows that it was transfered to my name.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

You just need the registration. For an official explanation, see the link shown below. Consider taking a copy of the web page with you in case you run into a Banjército clerk who misunderstands the rules.

When we went to Mexico the only way we could cross our truck was with the vehicle registration paper you get when you renew your tags and a letter of permission for the bank along with a copy of the title. And dont forget your credit card in the same name as the person whos name the car is in. : I will be driving into Mexico and do not have a title for my car.
