Conditions on Travel from Rio Verde to Altamira

I have the need to travel to Altamira with my Tahoe and a 16 foot double axel enclosed cargo trailer to pick up some furniture and personal effects for my in-laws. Has anyone recently made this trip and if so how is travel in general. I used to travel this route frequently but have not in the past two years. Safety, both personal and vehicle (road condition) wise comments would be appreciated, especially any new construction projects underway, etc.
