Coming from Guayabitos to Guad, then to Morelia

I am somewhat confused by some conflicting directions. I want to go from Rincon de Guayabitos to Guadalajara, then south to Morelia. The confusion occurs when I am approaching Guadalajara. Because I'm pretty much a small town driver with little experience in large cities, I would like to take the least trafficked route possible, even if it means adding some time to the drive. Also, on the route from Guadalajara to Morelia, does anyone know what the quota charges might be? And finally, are there some recommendations for a nice, moderately priced hotel in Morelia. We aren't looking for luxury; the trip is to see the monarch butterflies, and we won't be spending much time in a hotel.

Thanks in advance for any insights you might give me.

As you approach Guadalajara, just follow the signs for MEXICO. MEXICO, in this case, means Mexico City. The route to Mexico City is also the route to Morelia.

Once you're on the cuota, follow the signs for Morelia. The tolls are approximately 300 pesos to drive from Guadalajara to Morelia.

Here in Morelia you might want to look at the Hotel Casino (a Best Western Hotel), the Hotel Casa de la Loma, or the Hotel Aurora de Belén. I believe you can find all of these on line.

Do you know that the butterfly preserves are located about four hours east of Morelia, outside Angangueo, near the State of Mexico border?
