Arco Norte

This splendid new highway is now clearly the way to get around the dreaded and dreadful corrupt human sump of Mexico City without traversing its highways filled with the flatulent and morally destitute princes of degradation known as Mexico City and State of mexico cops who are, in reality, criminals wearing the uniforms of the massively corrupt police forces of those miserable political entities and here is what you do to avoid encounters with these state sanctioned criminals again.

Take the Arco Norte around this manifestly despicable place and bid it a place in your more unpleasanyt memories. This Arco Norte autopista ,is bound to become legend. A great road.

Now, here is the latest on the Arco Norte as of our travels yesterday, April 23, 2010 going from Chiapas to Lake Chapala.

From Puebla you drive toward Mexico City on the Puebla-Mexico Autopista until you come to the town of San Martin Texmelucan which may be shown only as Texmelucan on your map - a fairly large city - which is just beyond the Puebla airport and which you cannot miss. You will come to the Texmelucan toll plaza and just after that toll plaza heading west you will see a sign on your right that says, Ciudad Sahagún-Tlaxacala Cuota and you must take that exit which, be warned, comes up very quickly after the toll plaza. Later, as you drive in the direction dictated, you will see a sign saying that you are heading in the direction of the Queretaro Cuota and you will then be on the Arco Norte heading Northwest toward Queretaro and, once they finish the Arco Norte to Atlacomulco, Morelia and Guadalajara. This is a great road incorporating all of the most recent advantages of freeway technology including the fact that there are no toll plazas until you exit. Rather you take a ticket upon entering and pay your toll according to where you exit. Emergency telephone kioskes are constructed every four kilometers and the highway is a marvelous engineering feat. Signs will tell you you can continue to Atlacomulco but that is not true at present so you must exit at the Queretaro-Mexico cuota and proceed tp Guadalajara in that fashion if that is your destination. No matter - this highway is a great alternative to driving through Mexico City and should always be your choice unless Mexico City and environs is your destination.

I´m sorry, chicois, but, since we have owned our own home in San Cristóbal since 2006, we are not that current on San Cristóbal hotel information and, also, we have just arrived back at Lake Chapala for the summer. I can tell you that there are many choices for you from luxurious to economy and many with very secure parking which is important in that city. I suggest you go there and look about but if you have any problem, head down the autopista to Chiapa de Corzo or the big city of Tuxtla Gutierrez where there are countless hotels and great restaurants. Actually, those towns have better restaurants than San Cristóbal and are fun places to visit.

The Holiday Inn (maybe H.I. Express--I don't remember which) in el centro of San Cristobal has its own parking lot.
