WARNING: Spam e-mail purporting to come from MexConnect.com

Can't Post | Private Reply
Zillions of e-mails looking something like the following:
From: "alert@mexconnect.com" <alert@mexconnect.com>
To:
<xxx@mexconnect.com>
Sent: Wed, 14 Oct 2009 15:52:39 +0100
Subject: A new settings file for the xxxr@mexconnect.com mailbox has just been released
have been hitting in-boxes.

IMPORTANT: These messages are NOT, repeat NOT, from MexConnect, but appear to originate somewhere in Eastern Europe (or maybe Asia, or maybe...?)

You may safely ignore and delete these messages - the from address (alert@mexconnect) is not a valid e-mail for any of our systems.

Sorry for having to interrupt normal forum traffic with this posting; please get back to regular posts, and ENJOY!
Tony/David

I just got one that said it was from MexConnect.com-Forums and the subject line was MexConnect.com-Forums Reply to your Post

I opened it but didn't click on the link when I didn't recognize the thread title.
Then I went into the forum search to look for the user-name's posts...there were none. Pretty un-nerving.

I was suspicious of this message because it was a reply to a post I never made and the user name is very similar to my real name. The thread in fact, does not exist. However, after I spammed it, yahoo began spamming all my message reply notices. Since I had them all lined up together in the spam file, true and suspect, I could compare them...turns out they were of the same origin. So after searching for the poster by going alphabetically instead of using the search feature, I FOUND HER! She only posted once...on the date in question...I guess she deleted it. I'm relieved to know that MexConnect is NOT being body-snatched!!! WHEW!!!
