Based on your description, the $21 charge was the payment. It may not have looked like it but you probably had to go to a window marked 'Banjercito' or something like that. That's the 'local branch' that accepts the payments for the permits. Assuming you got the little hologram sticker, and still have it in your window, you should be all set. If that's not the case, let me know and we'll ask some more questions. What's real important is that when you decide to leave permanently (and are taking the car back out to stay) that you also stop by aduana (customs) and their local branch bank and get the receipt showing you took the car out of the country and that they took back their sticker. Keep a copy of the receipt and your cancelled permit and keep them in the car (or some other safe place) in case you ever have to show that you cancelled your previous permit. Good luck E&F
