stuff

The vast amount of terrific information obtained in this forum has made the prospective move to Mexico much easier in. However, the moving of stuff has me a little puzzled. It has been noted that all the stuff has to go over the boarder at the same time. Since I plan on renting for a period of time the prospect of living without my computer (& Mexconnect) would cause very serious withdrawel symptoms. I need some direction on getting the stuff over the boarder, store some of the stuff and keep some of the stuff for my use.

>Can I store the stuff at a facility in Mexico and dip into it on occasion?

>Can I cross the boarder with the stuff in a truck and my absolute needed stuff in a small trailer? And at a separate time on an FM3. Or go a different route, or whatever?

Thank you for any direction you might be able to give. Richard

Where in Mexico are you moving to? If you are moving to Lakeside, there are storage facilities right on the Carretera in La Floresta.

You might also contact Strom Moving for advise.

Richard, you can make as many trips as you wish across the border to bring in your things. The all-in-one-trip rule applies only to the items listed on a menaje de casa. If you have items not on your menaje, you can bring them when and as you wish, but they may be subject to an import duty.

It would appear from reports I have heard that the rule against used desktop computers is being ignored from time to time, but there is no guarantee that you can bring your used one without a menaje. Be careful on that.

You can load things into a pickup and tow a trailer with more things. And you can do this as many times as you need to. But only one of the trips can be done under a menaje; all the other trips would be subject to duty fees.

To find a storage facility, you need to make local inquires in your Mexican city. In response to your question, I looked in the yellow pages for my area and found three storage places listed. I have no idea what services, costs and level of security they offer.
