rental problem

Can't Post |
After nine years of a 15 year contract our landlord has decided he doesnt want to rent anymore. We have fulfilled all agreements set forth in the contract and paid rent on time. He has even lied and said he has sold the property. We have been told we can pay a natorio publico and it is the same as paying him if he won"t accept our rent. Any advice. Thanks

Marlene

In what area of Mexico do you live? That will make a difference as to how the law is interpreted or applied.

We live in the State of San Luis Potosi. A very small town named Tamasopo. It is 150 miles or more west of Tampico and many miles from a border.

You need to discuss this with a lawyer, or with a notario (who is also a lawyer). Get professional advice, because you do indeed have certain rights as tenants that you need to be aware of.

Yes, we have a 15 year lease. The first was for 5 years and the second for 10. It expires December 1, 2009.
