Hello, Does anyone know of Americans with Mexican law degrees? What kind of work do they do? Im thinking about going to law school in Mexico. Is there a future for me in Mexican law?

Thanks.

Karla

Karla,

I have a friend who works in an American corporation. He has a U.S. law degree and the Mexicans gave him reciprocity to advise clients on American law. Yet, he can appear in Mexican courts on behalf of his corporation.

I am a US lawyer (basically retired) who lives in Mexico and works part time for a Mexican lawyer (a notario, actually). Anyway--in central Mexico--there are too many lawyers, just like in the US. I know lawyers who work as teachers and even one who works in a grocery store. Get a US law degree and become fluent in LEGAL English, and you can probably work here--if you want to.

Karla,

I'm interested in knowing more about law schools in Mexico for Americans.

My Granddaughter is in her third year at Tx. Tech and wants to go to law school,However atTech there are currently 2500 students who have applied and only 2000 will be accepted. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks

Dolores

Hi Dolores
2000 accepted out of 2500 sounds like a pretty favorable ratio from your granddaughters' point of view. From the previous posts I would infer that law school in mexico is not a good way to go. However, I am still researching the subject and will let you know if anything more substantive comes up.
Karla.

Karla,

Thanks for your reply. I should had checked what I wrote more closely. One to many zero's. Should have been 200 out of 2500. Good Luck on your endeavors. Be safe.
