We are two dutch students and will be conducting our anthropological field research in Tijuana from march until september. We are having a lot of problems finding cheap accomodation. We have searched the net but couldn't find any agency's or other information on how to get an appartment. Any information that could help us in our search would be welcome. Please send it to stolkverouden@yahoo.com
you would really help us out,

nick and hanneke

So that means you want a place near "where the action is"? Alex

TJ anthropology ???

Should be a thin textbook. Unless, of course their idea of "action area" is the same as what I thought of when I read it. They could certainly make Margaret Mead seem tame.

Hmmm ... why is TJ such a touchy subject. If it's anthropology of the '60's, I could contribute. A few friends and I used to almost live there and Ensenada. Since those days in the Navy I'm glad I've learned more respect for Mexico and people in general. Thank god life moves on !!

You can find a cheap apartment in the same place that mine is located : Torres del Lago. Its a colonia near Abelardo L. Rodriguez Internat'l Airport. There are a thousand or so apartments, just walk around looking for a "Se Renta" sign, there is always something, but they are not advertised in the paper or online. I might even consider renting my 2 bedroom furnished unit for 6 months, though college kids aren't usually a good bet to pay the rent on time. Rents for unfurnished units go for 1500 to 2000 pesos per month. When I rent mine out , including propane tank, stove, refrigerator, sofa, kitchen table , 2 beds, washing machine , hot water heater, security bars on all windows and doors, and use of US plated economy car, I ask 1600 pesos per month, about $170 USD.
The unit, like all the others, has NO HEAT or air conditioning, the neighbors are noisy, the propane truck wakes you promptly at 7 am , and the car has to be chained down every night so it doesn't wander away.
