fm-3 and HIV ????????

Can't Post |
Hello everyone!

I move to Mx on the 24th and have gotten together all the requirements (or so I thought) to get an fm-3 in Cancun...I have a valid passport, drivers lisence, birth certificate, notarized copy of my spotless criminal record, and proof of income (over 2,500 usd per month) in bank statements. Now I have heard that I will also need an HIV test? Is this correct? I dont have time to get an HIV test! help!?

thanks!

I have not heard of that requirement. Where did you hear this? From the Mexican Consulate? Or from a friend’s cousin who heard it at work? Have to called your consulate?

When you get word from an official source, please come back here and post what you learn.

Look at the date of first copyright of that article.

Back in the Dark Ages, somewhat after the Porfiriate, when I wrote that, the certificate of no communicable diseases, including H-IV, was required. So too, was the certificate of moral solvency. Both may be required by some Mexican Consulates, but neither seem to be part of the requirements at INAMI in Mexico now.

Yes I remember hearing the HIV bit in the mid to early 90s. I also remember that the requirements were dropped at about that time or earlier

Both requirements were in effect at the Mexican Consulate in Chicago as of 1997.

That's amazing. I might be a little off on my dates, but when I first got my fm-3 in 1996 or 7 in Seattle there wasn't that requirement. But I do remember that it had previously been a requirement. I remember going through the thought process of how do I get one of those? And thinking what would the family Doc think if I had to ask for an HIV test. I remember being relieved that I didn't have to ask for one.

Well time for me to crash. I'm posting this at 11:58 PM here in Ajijic, Monday evening. I wonder what time it will show it was posted.

Not really amazing. As I've said many times before, each Mexican Consulate has a slightly different procedure. Some will not issue an FM-3 to a person under the age of 55 years, some require a personal visit to the Consulate, and some have a different interpretation of "minimum monthly income." What plays in Seattle doesn't always work in San Jose. It pays to ask what the particular requirements of the Mexican Consulate having jurisdiction over your place of residence may be.

Time StampS;

The time stamp on postings is governed by the clock in your computer and the time offset you have in your Display settings (Personal Profile).
The server is in the Pacific time-zone.
Thus, as I have set my profile to 2 hours (CST) then when I post it will show the local time of posting - on MY computer and anyone elses that is in this time zone.
However, if you are in Seattle, it will show two hours earlier!
Clear as mud, right!
