can i sell my car in mexico

Can't Post |
Hi everyone, Im moving to Mexico in about 2 weeks and I'm wondering if I should take my car with me and then sell it over there. I heard that I can get a lot more over there than I can get in the US. Are there any laws against this, and if there are is there any way around them? Thanks in advance.

Rolly is correct, not allowed ... for now. I have recently spoke on this board about NAFTA and the equalization of car prices, more or less (transportation costs), in 2004. My Mexican friends talk about this all the time, whether to wait or buy now.
From what I understand, once those new regulations go into effect, Mexicans would be able to buy in the U.S. and bring back here.
However, do not get your hopes up. Every time I hear about this, the date seems to be pusing farther out into the future.
In theory, if you nationlized the vehicle (and there are some you cannot, i.e., luxury vehicles), you could sell the vehicle. However, the registration and taxes are so high, your dream of selling the car and reaping riches would be negated.
